great doubt and small reflections
again from Rieti, for those who continue along the Via Latina, after 30 stages Batia is located, and after 300, Tiora, that keeps. In this city, it is argued that there has been a very ancient oracle of Ares, whose features were, again according to according to tradition, very close to those that, according to mythical tradition, had at one time the Oracle of Dodona, except for one thing. It is said that at Dodona nell'Oracolo vaticinate a dove perched on a sacred oak, while that of the Aborigines that service was made by a bird, sent by the Deity, which they called Pico and the Greeks instead Drykolapten, which manifested itself on a wooden dove: A 24-stage list from this city was the motherland of the Aborigines.
These phrases were written about 2,000 years ago by a greek historian named Dionysius, whose hometown was Halicarnassus. He lived in the first century BC during the period when Rome became a republic, empire, speaking and writing in Greek, and there he remained a "History of Archaic Rome," unique and important books of their kind. He speaks of Tiora repeated what he had written, in a work now lost, the historian Marcus Terentius Varro Rieti who had lived about 50 years ago.
... ... .. In the same work another town called Orvinio is placed at a distance of 230 stadia from Rieti on a path that crossed before reaching the city of Tribulato, Suesbula, Suna and Mefula.
Orvinio , forty stadia from Mefula, a city famous and great everything else ever in this region. You can see the foundations of the walls, some graves of style very archaic and fences with more burial mounds that cover very high. There is also a Temple of Athena, built on top.
Now, the description given by Dionysius fits very well the situation of the modern Corsaro is the distance from Rieti to about fifty kilometers (a greek stadium is approximately 210 m. today: 230 stadiums are about 49 Km current) for a description of the mounds that reflects exactly the current situation especially after the latest archaeological discoveries. In the area of \u200b\u200b
Corsaro and then on the immediate surroundings were identified about a dozen burial mounds of which at least one result seems to be the largest mound in Europe. Now, as you Corsaro well suited to the old term of Orvinio and perhaps the ancient temple of Athena cited by the source may correspond to the fortress of the Corsair, now in ruins, situated on the top. Also Orvinio was one of the largest cities in this region and now Corsair is the largest country of the Cicolano.
Now it seems to me that it can take into consideration, pending tests more secure, this thesis further supported by an inscription which read as follows:
C. CLOELIUS. LF CLA. Corvinus. VESTINAE. HLENAE. AND MRS.
merit.
This plaque was released by the Hammers who said it observed in an ancient tomb discovered between Corvara and S. Anatolia. Of course Martelli often invent things he is sure that other archaeologists (notably Theodor Mommsen) was never taken seriously! It seems to support his thesis, he came to create fake tombstones and then publish his work! However, it is very likely that the territory of Corsaro, until at least Collepizzuto, belonged to the territory of Orvinio and if this is true they are to follow the assumptions to the contrary with respect to the argument that asserts that keeps Tiora is close to the current countries of S. Anatolia or Cartore.
Tiora Keeps is cited in the same work of Dionysius. He wrote:
again from Rieti, for those who proceed along the Latin America, after 30 stages is Vazia and, after 300, TIORA of keeps. ... Then .... At 24 stadiums in this city was the city where the nomads List, the homeland of the Aboriginal ... ... So if
Tiora corresponded to the current country of S. Anatolia, Dionysius would have to mention it immediately after quoting Orvinio (Corvara) whereas the path from Rieti to Orvinio , and passing through the cities of Tribulato, Suesbula, Suna and Mefula was different from that which led Tiora in and passing through the cities of Vazia, Tiora and List. Now I think it is impossible simultaneously Orvinio may correspond to Corsaro and Tiora S. Anatolia or Cartore to reach because roads were different in the two cities while in reality, the road that leads to Corsaro and S. Anatolia (the way Cicolana) is currently one! Well, since I believe that the argument that Orvinio primitive city of Corvaro which is very reliable it seems unlikely the other of Tiora S. Anatolia. The way
Calatina was the road that led from the ancient Reate towards the Adriatic Sea.
If it corresponded to the Latin way of Dionysus, as some claim, and standing near a village called Vazia Rieti in that direction, it seems not absurd to suppose that perhaps the Tiora Keeps sources was in a completely different area, perhaps in Around Amiterno since there is a small village in the town of Pizzoli called theory or perhaps near the waterfall, located about 70 km from Rieti.
I doubt there are many, and I believe that for at least another three hundred years they will not dissolve.
I think only two ways may resolve the issue:
a) Digging
